Progress?

How many times have I been down this road before.
I take a few days off, then i go ride. Sometimes it's just plain bad, and i swear i'm ruined for life.
Sometimes it's good, and I think im on my way, only to ride the next day and it be bad.

Well, the boys at TMI sports are now on the case. I 've hired the big dogs.  These guys are pro's. And i don't mean they just get a good salary for doing their job, i mean they work with Pro athletes around the world.  They just happen to be in Arlington.

So, i made the drive last week and got a shot in my hamstring. Fair enough. It hurt for a week.  Let's hope that was pain leaving the body.  Coupled with a choice NSAID, i decided to walk until i met with my new PT.

He's a cyclist. Good points already, but i've heard that before.  Oh wait..he isn't a PT that occasionally gets on a bike. He rides. Alot. The whole spandex kit and everything.

He put me on a spin bike and watched a few things, interviewed me for half an hour, then brought in a colleague and they went to work.  They moved me body parts all around, interrupted with many "A-Ha's".  After using big words, he gave me the summary.

Our bodies are not symmetric.  Did you know your left lung is smaller than your right lung due to your heart being in the way?  Also, the liver on the right makes the diaphragm move differently than on the left.  So the rest of our bodies are also not symmetric.

Enter the bicycle..the most symmetric weapon of choice.  Great.
Now, im not symmetric..but im also WAY not symmetric.

It turns out, that my left hip bone is turned 'out'.  Hence pulling on the hamstring, twisting my knee all over the place, and my poor foot trying to compensate.  This, apparently got worse after the accident, which just happened to be correctable collateral damage, but no one keyed in on it.

He's starting me off with three exercises to activate the hamstring and inner thigh.

First task. Do the exercises then go ride.  I like this task.  Of course, i pick the best day for it.  35mph wind gusts coming from every direction.  At first, i felt weird on the bike.

Isn't it funny when you don't want company, strangers want to chat.  But i like cyclists, so im OK, even tho i had to push myself a bit harder than i wanted to at times.

One lap down. Hm.  I could feel it trying to hurt, but i did the on bike exercise, and it relieved it.  Bigger Hm.

Then, i decided to tip the saddle UP.  Suddenly, my hands felt better, my back relaxed. What would normally be horrible butt pain was a little rubbing.  eh?

Two laps before i ran out sunlight.

Progress?  Well, it's hard to stay neutral and pessimistic.

I'm a bit sore today, but i forgot my anti inflammatory.  So, advil it is.

The PT is positive we're possibly on the right path.

Here's the real test...lets see how the next ride is....

fingers crossed and updates soon.

Clear skies
