In the few minutes i have before i enter into a live studio shoot this morning, I wanted to update on my yoga/cycling mission.
A few days ago, i really put my body through the yoga wringer then went to ride in the 40mph gusty ride. It sucked. pain, wind, mental defeat. One 13 mile lap and i rode home in disgust.
I took wednesday off. i came home, laid down, watched a really stupid nicole kidman movie (Cold Mountain, i don't recommend it) and had a medium meltdown. My boyfriend, who is an angel sent from heaven, took me out to dinner and cheered me up.
This whole issue with my cycling has been going on since he met me, and yet, he's still in there, fighting along with me.
Yesterday, the wind was calm, i was rested, and i did NO yoga, no stretching. I just went out and rode. A few tweaks on my bike...raised the saddle, but lowered the front of it, seemed to make a huge difference.
After one lap, i felt a little pain, but nothing intolerable. But i had to pee..big time. Luckily i made it to the Local Bike shop, who very nicely allow cyclists to relieve themselves. Otherwise, it's the gnarly portojohns at the lake, and i'd rather pee behind a bush if i weren't worried about ending up on a pervert database.
Two more laps, and i watched the sun set.
bitchy editorial note..Does Rockwall Cycling team members not have brakes on their bikes? Because this woman totally ran EVERY stop sign she could, in fact, she made a point of it. Most of those team members are pretty great, but this one had some attitude to her. I guess the law doesn't apply to her. I still will never understand that mentality.
Anyway, very little pain, and i could tell my knee is freeing up. and last night, an hour of deep solid yoga really made me feel better. NOTE: If you ever need to relieve yourself of some gas, do yoga.
In the midst of my painful meltdown, i made an appt with my old knee doctor. This guy is the whiz, but he's in A-town. Today is my appt. A long drive, but lets get our fingers crossed he can get me going in the right direction.
Updates to follow. Spring is here!
Clear, calm skies my friends and happy friday.
