Wow a lot has been happening!
Now that this superheat has me limited to my outdoor activities in the evenings, i might as well blog.
i got a coach. He's a good coach. From what I understand by others, he's the most engaging of them out there. He rides with me. Not just in practice, but at events. Teaches me the tricks of group riding. Let's me draft in the headwind, and encourages me to lose my chain in the attack (ie. go so fast i dont feel it).
my ride time has improved in one week more than i ever thought possible. one week.
Lance Armstrong says in his books, that cycling is a team sport. I have spent the last three years, being team boomer. Ride by myself, train mostly by myself, and occasionally, if i'm lucky, get to ride w/ a few cool folks. But things are different now.
My days of begging folks to enlighten me on how to improve have taken a leap for the best. If you want to know who this magi is, send me a private msg and i'll tell ya, coz he's really really good.
So, what's next.
Next weekend is a ride w/ the TCC, if they're around. Then a possible rally in north texas (gotta check the fundage). A weekend riding local, and then off to the HHH. IF you read this, and you're not on the HHH Mailing list, they are moving the century riders up to 6 am, if they want. I'm in on that deal.
So why am i stuck inside in the evenings? It boils (no pun intended) to my eye. The one w/ the Lasik growth. The cornea is def weaker w/ all the surgeries, but this intense hot wind began to bake the crap out of the cornea. Within a few days the harsh headache returned. I raced to the doc in fear the growth was back. While nothing is visible to him, it's the invisible that concerns him. Back on medical eye drops, and now a super lubricating eye gel. Just sitting here writing my eye is already feeling dry and scratchy.
My workouts are strictly a morning affair for the next few weeks until the doc can determine it's not a growth, or the earth will finally return to its orbit and stop boiling the crap out of us.
I love summer, but tooo much of summer is not always a good thing.
The Flynnbot has just reminded me that he's been ignored and alone all day.
If you do ride, or do any sort of excertion outside, including just walking to your car from a nice air conditioned building, please take care of yourselves.
Clear skies and drink LOTS of water!
